Why This Book is Outstanding/ Why it was Placed on the List

This book is outstanding because it makes the reader look at a very somber, and morbid situation. Though most people dislike books like this, I think this one is different, because there is so much feeling and realness in this book, that the reader can't help but fall in love with it. You look at the character Sethe, and you just can't help but think and try to place yourself in her shoes. " Would I really do what she did?". This book makes the reader think about the situations of its characters and it creates imagine if situations, but with you in the characters place. Toni Morrison's use of the dialougue for the characters makes the book even more appealing. The language is actually how people would've talked back then, and that's what made the book so interesting. The very somber, but real situation and the personality and dialougue of the characters makes the book a must read! I believe it was placed on the list because of the fact it is so real. The author uses many powerful dialogues(example above) to portray her characters in the best way possible. I give it four out of five stars!!!!

Who I Would Reccomend it To/ Why I would Reccomend it

Anyone who likes realistic books must read this book. In my opinion it is as real as you could imagine. There were instances where I thought I was Sethe, Denver, and even Stamp Paid myself! I would reccomend this book because it is a very real book. The situation is real, the emotions of the characters are real, everything in this book seemed like it was actually happening around me. And I am sure other readers will feel the same way.

Things the Reader should keep in mind/Tips

The book is placed many years after the Civil War, however there are many occasions where the author flashes back to the characters when they are still slaves
Keep an eye on the many different characters,or you will be confused
Beloved Should be older then Denver *important*
Remember, there are going to be many flashbacks

Character List/ Descriptions

Sethe- very independent, feels as if she needs no one, however becomes very vulnerable.
Paul D- loving, is at times cowardly/afraid of things that aren't common
Denver- forced to grow up faster then she should, very caring and cautious
Beloved- You can find out about her yourself ;]
Stamp Paid- very fatherly towards everyone
